The Ministry of Educational Development and Vocational Training, through the Andalusian Public Agency for Education, has formalized the contract for the works to expand spaces for training cycles at the Arroyo de la Miel Institute of Secondary Education (IES) in Benalmádena (Málaga), awarded to the company Engineering Construction Cordobesa SL for an amount of 979,470.78 euros.
The delegate for Educational Development and Vocational Training and University, Research and Innovation, Miguel Briones, visited this Thursday, together with its director Juan Antonio Manceras, the IES Arroyo de la Miel in Benalmádena, where he announced that the works have a deadline of execution of nine months from its beginning and after its completion, the removal of two existing prefabricated classrooms in this educational center since 2016 is planned.
The visit was accompanied by the mayor of the town, Víctor Navas Pérez; the councilor for education, Pablo Centella, the reference inspector and the management team.
The IES Arroyo de la Miel, with 1,170 students enrolled, is located on a plot of more than 12,000 square meters and has a main building that houses compulsory secondary education, baccalaureate and intermediate and higher level training courses. Specifically, it offers Intermediate Training Cycles (CFGM) Technician in Commercial Activities and Guide in the Natural Environment and Free Time; as well as the Higher Level Training Cycles (CFGS) Physical Conditioning, Teaching and Socio-sports Animation, and Guide, Information and Tourist Assistance.
The works will respond to the high demand for schooling in the center by creating new spaces for training cycles. Thus, two buildings attached to the current one will be built, as an extension to it, which will house the CFGM Commercial Activities and the CFGS Guide, Information and Tourist Assistance.
In the new buildings there will be four multipurpose classrooms, a tourist information and agency room, a technical room for commerce and marketing and a specific room with an exterior window, as well as toilets for students. In addition, a porch will be set up under one of the buildings that make up the extension. In total, the new spaces will add 1,307.78 square meters more built to the institute.
The extension of the IES Arroyo de la Miel is part of the Educational Infrastructure Plan of the Ministry of Educational Development and Vocational Training, which is executed through the Andalusian Public Agency for Education, and has European co-financing through the Feder Operative Program .
The delegate for Educational Development and Vocational Training and for the University, Research and Innovation, Miguel Briones, recalled that, in addition to the planned work at the IES Arroyo de la Miel (979,470.78 euros), there are other actions in the educational centers of the locality found in different states.
In project drafting contracts, the construction of the new IES D3 + B2.2 (6,496,170 euros) and the new C2 in the Doña María area (4,900,000 euros); in definition of action, the extensions to C4 of the CEIP Mariana Pineda (2,379,000) and to D3 + 2 specific classrooms of the IES Poetas Andaluces (500,000 euros). In short, some actions that amount to a total value of more than 15 million euros in the town of the Costa del Sol.
