through its quarry in La Utrera has renewed its collaboration with the CD Manilva Basketbase basketball club In which a total of 160 players from the Malaga municipality play and which it has sponsored since 2015.
Founded in 2012, CD Manilva Basketbase has seven federated teams from pre-minibasket to junior, two of them being female, and four teams from the educational league. In the season that has just ended, the sports club has been Provincial Gold League champion in the male cadet category, runner-up in the Federation Cup in the children’s category male, runner-up in the Mixed Minibasket League and has held the fourth position respectively in the Andalusian Championship in the men’s children’s category and in the U-22 Men’s Senior League.
The director of the Utrera quarry and head of the Corporate Social Responsibility Plan of this work center, Joaquín Berja, assures that the collaboration with this sports club is “a sign of the commitment we maintain with the sport of the municipality and of our support to the values that sports activity promotes among the youngest ”.
La Utrera quarry maintains close collaboration with its surroundings to try to improve the quality of life of its neighbors. The result of this is the agreement it has with the Casares City Council to promote initiatives such as the start-up of a Neurocognitive School in that town, together with the Botika association, the town hall and the Association of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol. The aim of the school is respond to the challenge of healthy aging in rural areas, where there are no specialized and adapted resources to attend to a growing life expectancy.
Among other initiatives linked to its Corporate Social Responsibility plan, the Utrera quarry of Hanson-HeidelbergCement Group has also collaborated in the disinfection of public areas in Manilva during the pandemic, in addition to donating food for the neediest families.
