The Sierra Bermeja fire continues to be active for another day and from early in the morning the aerial means have been working again, withdrawn yesterday coinciding with sunset. Firefighters from all the provinces of Andalusia continue to be deployed over Sierra Bermeja to face the flames that have already consumed and continue to do so over 3,600 hectares. Some 300 troops continue to fight the fire on Friday.
The AP-7 is for the moment open to traffic again, although the highway from Jubrique to Estepona remains closed. On the other hand, firefighters have tried to contain the fire throughout the night on the stretch from Estepona to Peñas Blancas.
The forecast for today is again for a west wind, so it is expected that the flames will continue trying to advance helped by the gusts.
On the other hand, the number of people evicted in prevention from different centers of Estepona and Benahavís rises 1,004 according to the latest Emergency count.
