The plenary session of the City Council Estepona approved this Friday public transfer of a municipal plot in the area of ​​Las Mesas for the Junta de Andalucía to build a secondary education center of three lines.

The mayor, José María García Urbano, explained that the Consistory has worked quickly so that the Ministry of Education can dispose of this public land that occupies a surface of 7,539 square meters.

The councilor has indicated that this new educational infrastructure, which has a budget allocation of more than 4.7 million euroswill be fundamental because it is located in an area of ​​the city that is undergoing significant development and where considerable population growth is expected for the coming years.

He also pointed out that the government team has met all the requests for land made by the Ministry of Education. In that sense, he has recalled that a plot for the extension of the IES Tomás Hormigo for the center to go from three to five educational lines and another for Expansion of CEIP Ramón Lago. Both projects have a bidding budget for the works that exceeds 5.3 million euros.

In addition, you have to add the expansion that is being carried out in the CEIP Isdabe del Marwhich will be completed by the end of the year and has a budget of 1.6 million euros.

With all these investments, which have been possible thanks to the transfer of land carried out by the Estepona City Council, the city puts solution to schooling problems that could have occurred in the long term in the city.

In this regard, he referred to the Schooling evaluation reports for three-year-olds for the 2022/2023 academic yearwhich certify that the educational centers of the city currently have free places to meet a greater demand for schooling.

The plenary session has also given account of the economic information relating to compliance with the average supplier payment period, which is well below the maximum established by law; as well as the fulfillment of the objective of budgetary stability.
