The Estepona Town Hall has started this Monday the second edition of the free gardening, electricity, plumbing and masonry workshops, an initiative developed by the Consistory to provide unemployed young people training to promote access to the labor market, as highlighted by the deputy mayor of the Sociocultural area, Begoña Ortiz.
This has been highlighted by the municipal official in the diploma delivery ceremony at 16 students who have satisfactorily passed the first edition of these workshops this year, while at the same time Recepcionado to the new promotion of students.
Ortiz has encouraged new students to take advantage of this experience because they will allow access to the labor market, while preventing situations of exclusion. In this regard, he has highlighted that after completing these courses, it is increased the number of students who get a job.
Estepona City Council, through the municipal Social Welfare delegation, organizes these training actions for young people between 16 and 24 years oldwho have not accessed training cycles or who are unemployed, have more options to access the labor market.
The Consistory gives three editions of these workshops every year in which the students, during a period of three months, receive 250 hours of trainingboth theoretical and practical.
The internships are carried out in concessionaire companies of the different municipal services, which allows students to make contact with the world of work and learn to solve incidents and real situations that usually occur in the performance of their profession. Likewise, students expand their knowledge by doing internships at the headquarters of some local associations, always directed by a professional.
In the edition that has just concluded, the students have worked on the adaptation of the new facilities that the City Council has ceded to the Association of Relatives and People with Mental Illness of the Costa del Sol (AFESOL). This is the first day care center for people with mental health problems which has begun to serve in the city.
In addition, the students who have participated in the Gardening workshop they have been instructed in the application of phytosanitary products, being an essential title to work in this profession. The learning is completed with job search training and guidance and informative talks on drug prevention, occupational risks and fires in the home; in addition to recreational and sports activities.
