Estepona City Council has scheduled a set of activities for next Monday, October 24, on the occasion of International Library Day. This year the conference will have the motto ‘BiblioTEcuida’.
The day, open to all audiences, will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the María Zambrano Room of the Municipal Library, located in the Padre Manuel Cultural Center, with the inauguration of an exhibition of old books belonging to the collections of the library and which, due to their importance, are in the Municipal Archives of Estepona.
These rooms will also host the exhibition ‘The light of words’, made up of photographs inspired by books by great writers, such as Jane Austen, George Sand, Simone de Beauvoir or Virginia Woolf, taken by users of the Municipal Information Center at the Woman. The snapshots are part of a project promoted by the municipal delegation for Women, coordinated by the artistic photographer Gladys Farias.
The commemorative program will continue at 5:30 p.m., with the celebration of a Storytelling in the Children’s Library, by Macarena Esquivel, who will tell the little ones ‘The story of Pinsapín’.
Finally, at 7:30 p.m., in the María Zambrano Room, the conference ‘Libraries and painters: unexpected relationships’ will take place, given by Rocío Garín, teacher of the Drawing and Painting Workshop of the municipal delegation of Culture, who will show attendees the links that unite many plastic artists with libraries.
