The Town Hall of Estepona has organized a program of cultural and leisure activities to celebrate Christmas with more than thirty activities, a calendar that begins this Friday with the turning on the Christmas lightsas announced by the deputy mayor of the Sociocultural area, Begoña Ortiz.

This was highlighted by the municipal manager in the presentation of the program, where she was accompanied by the councilor attached to the delegation of Culture and Festivals, Macarena Diánez, and the singer Maria Jose Santiago.

Ortiz has announced that this year it will offer more than thirty acts that will be held in different parts of the city, with the aim that people of all ages enjoy one of the dates most expected of the year, although the little ones “will have a special role”.

The activities will begin this Friday with the turning on the Christmas lightswhich will be borne by the young artist from Estepona Nayeli Ruiz. It will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Avenida España, specifically in the section recently remodeled by the City Council.

Also another of the enclaves that will gain prominence will be the new Plaza del Ajedrez, which will host on Saturday, December 10, the flamenco show ‘Christmas with Carmela de Jerez and Family’; and on Friday, December 23, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the ‘Christmas Village of Santa Claus’, where children will be received by Santa Claus and will have fun in the chocolate house, the Christmas train, Santa Claus’s boat, with the ice rink, the crazy penguins, the artificial snowfall and many more things.

For her part, Macarena Diánez highlighted that the Felipe VI Auditorium will be one of the main stages where a wide variety of performances will be held, such as the fun show ‘The best of Yllana Teatro’ Saturday, December 3; the representation of the children’s classic ‘The Wizard of Oz’ Sunday, December 4th; also the ballets ‘Giselle’ on Friday, December 9, and ‘The Nutcracker’ on Thursday, December 15.

In addition, this space will host concerts like ‘The Very Best of Dire Straits. Brothers in Band’ Saturday, December 17; the concert of the Municipal Music Band and the XXII Christmas Proclamation Sunday, December 18; the flamenco zambomba that the well-known singer María José Santiago will offer in the purest Jerez style, on Friday, December 23; the concert by Pilar Boyero ‘Something went with you’ on Friday, December 30, and finally on Wednesday, January 4, when the New Year’s concert will be held by the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra.

Also, as every year, one of the most anticipated events by citizens returns the VIII Cheese Fair ‘Popi, Sabor a Málaga’, which will be on Calle Terraza from December 15 to 18. Also, the Plaza Antonia Guerrero will host from December 15 to January 8 the Book Fair at Christmas. In addition, in this space will be held on Thursday, December 22, the blessing and enthronement of the Niños Jesús del Belén municipal and the concert by the young artist from Estepona Nayeli Ruiz who will perform a selection of Christmas songs, on Wednesday, December 28, at 7:00 p.m.

Christmas will also reach the suburban areas, since in Cancelada on Friday, December 9, the flamenco zambomba ‘From Estepona to Belen’; on Monday, December 12, they will have a typical Christmas candy contest; and on Thursday, January 5, they will celebrate the traditional parade of the Magi. For its part, Nueva Atalaya will celebrate as every year the representation of the Living Nativity Scene, which will be on Saturday, December 17, at 7:30 p.m., organized by the San Cristobal neighborhood association.

2022 will close with the Popular New Year’s Eve Party which, as always, will take place in the Plaza del Reloj on December 31, and which will have the Ivan Elena Show Fure Dancer performance, Cotillion will be distributed among the attendees, the traditional chimes will be celebrated welcoming 2023 and a great fireworks display will be enjoyed.

This program of activities will culminate with the children’s party par excellence, The Three Wise Men. The acts will begin on Tuesday, January 3, with the delivery of letters to the Royal Postman in the Plaza Antonia Guerrero from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and will culminate on Thursday, January 5, with the reception of the Three Wise Men at 11:00 a.m. in the Fair Park, and with the great Parade of the Three Wise Men that will begin the 5:00 p.m.
