The president, Juan Lozano, wanted to congratulate all the participants and encourages more people to participate in future editions.

The Reina Cristina Hotel in Algeciras has hosted the final of the 1st “Chef Campo de Gibraltar” Contest in which Guillermo Collado Leiva, from the Fresco Marina restaurant in Sotogrande (San Roque), has won. The prize, endowed with 500 euros, was presented by the President of the regional Institution, Juan Lozano, together with the Vice President Jessica Barea.
Likewise, the second and third position corresponded to Julia Martínez Gutiérrez (Lizarrán de Algeciras) and Juan José Mora Sánchez, from the Buen Provecho restaurant in Algeciras, who received their mention from the hands of the vice presidents Perea and Manella respectively.

The contest “Chef Campo de Gibraltar” seeks to recognize the work of the chefs of the region, while promoting the dissemination and knowledge of the products of Campo de Gibraltar.

The initiative is framed within the collaboration agreement established between the Provincial Council and the regional institution and which, under the name “Activa Campo de Gibraltar 2022 Project”, aims to promote a new model of sustainable development in the province of Cádiz under criteria of territorial, social and environmental rebalancing, by supporting innovation and improving the competitiveness of strategic production sectors.

Both President Lozano and the regional vice-presidents congratulated the kitchen professionals who have participated in this edition by contributing to the enhancement of all the richness and creativity of the kitchen in Campo de Gibraltar and highlighting the importance of the sector within the regional tourism industry.
The II edition of the contest will start at the beginning of next year 2023.
