The Marbella Town Hall has started the energy rehabilitation works of the Salduba pool of the Antonio Serrano Lima sports complex, with a budget of 2.1 million euros and an execution period of between 8 and 10 months, to transform it into a “more efficient, functional and attractive” facility, as reported by the mayor of the branch Diego Lopez.

The municipal manager has highlighted together with the mayor of Sports, Lisando Vieytes, that the Works will be completed in the first quarter of 2024and which contemplate the placement of a new roof with a glazing system, which allows the maintenance of the interior temperature and prevents leaks and the entrance of hot and cold air, and the regrowth of the glass to house approved competitions.

López recalled that the project conforms to the sustainability and energy efficiency criteria on which the EDUSI Marbella strategy is built, a Sustainable City Model, of which this action is a part, 80 percent co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER), within the framework of the Plurirregional Operational Program of Spain 2014- 2020.

The remaining 20 percent of the budget is assumed by the City Council, as explained by the councilor, who stressed that “the importance of this intervention lies not only in the comprehensive reform, which was necessary, but also in the fact that after the same will be used aerothermal energy and solar panels for photovoltaic energy.

In this way, the building It will not require any type of external energy to be able to supply or heat the water in the changing rooms or the pool itself”, indicated López, who has advanced that, on the other hand, an initiative will also be carried out jointly with the Cleaning delegation for the reuse of the Surplus water from the recycling system in cleaning work.

He has also pointed out that “the regrowth of the vessel will allow host approved competitions, which was a claim by the Marbella Water Polo Club”.

For his part, the Marbella Councilor for Sports highlighted that “in this way, it prevents said equipment from having to move to other municipalities for this purpose, this being a claim that Deportes requested from Obras at the time of issuing the tender for the project”.

Vieytes has also indicated that “these actions were highly demanded by the residents and the East district” and has indicated that “all the activities that were being carried out in this facility have gone to Supera, where they will be carried out with the monitors that were in the Salduba pool”. He added that “we are also working on the relocation of the different clubs sports who have been using these facilities in others so that they can continue developing their training sessions”.
