The City Council of Marbella will create together with the successful bidder of the drafting of the project for the new municipal stadium Antonio Lorenzo Cuevas and Marbella FC a technical commission to promote sports infrastructure, as reported on Wednesday by the mayor, Ángeles Muñoz.

This has been highlighted by the councilor after maintaining a working meeting with both entitiesnoting that “we are facing one of the most important initiatives in our city both for the budget item, greater than 18 million euros, as well as for the impact that a soccer facility like the one we are going to build will generate in the municipality”.

The first mayor has indicated that “once the ideas contest has taken place and the jury has selected the winner, which corresponds to the Huete Architects studio, we wanted to start working immediately for the approval of the draftfor whose elaboration the company will have four months once the contract is signed”.

“We want there to be a effective dialogue to make the project interesting for the city and we understand that the Marbella FC’s trajectory is a guarantee for this reason, it has been decided to set up a commission in which the club is incorporated so that it can comment on the particularities in the sports field, fundamentally”, the mayor has specified.

This meeting, in which the councilors of Works, Diego López, and Sports, Manuel Cardeña, have also participated, has taken place after the decision of the ideas competition that took place on July 14, in which the jury chose the ‘Dream B1G’ proposal as the winner and that establishes that the football stadium occupies most of the sports complex. At the southern end, the creation of an athletics pavilion is planned, and at the foot of the equipment, a large meeting space with zones will be created. In addition, the winning design provides for more than 900 parking spaces.
