Marbella City Council has sent to the Bulletin of the European Union the ptechnical file of the ideas competition for the construction of the new Antonio Lorenzo Cuevas Municipal Stadium, starting the procedure for its publication in the State Contracting Platform in a maximum of five days, as announced this Friday by the mayor, Ángeles Muñoz.
The councilor has emphasized that it will be “a modern, sustainable and functional project that will respond to the sports needs of the municipality”, while specifying that the tender contemplates a budget of 985,000 euros, while the total investment in the work will be around 18 million euros.
Muñoz, accompanied by the Councilor for Sports, Manuel Cardeña, has detailed in relation to the procedure that once it is published, those interested will have a deadline of 45 days to present their proposals, that will be valued under the jury modality, and has underlined that the winner will also draw up the project and will take the optional direction of the works.
“We are facing an initiative in which we have worked for a long time to turn this facility into a hallmark of the municipality,” said the first mayor, who stressed that “it will be a plural and participatory ideas competitionwhich will lead to the selection of a project of the highest quality”.
As specified, the jury “must assess issues such as the uniqueness, architectural quality, adaptation to the demands of the functional program, cultural, natural aspects and environmental issues and the economic, technical and constructive feasibility of the proposals”, as well as underlining that, according to the Higher Sports Council, a response will be given to the needs raised such as a minimum capacity of 8,000 spectators, a playing field of first level to host top category competitions, in addition to changing rooms or an infirmary.
Likewise, he pointed out that “despite the fact that there will be an athletics track in the Guadaiza area, in the functional program of this infrastructure we are going topromote indoor equipment, covered and approved, which will be found at a lower level”, he noted.
On the other hand, he pointed out that the project contemplates “a gym and a room fitness that we have left open to the criteria of the bidders”, indicated the mayor, who also recalled that the sports area will be completed with a car park.
Regarding investment, he has advanced that “we have begun to work to co-finance the project with other administrations” and has invited “possibly interested parties and large companies in the country to participate in this emblematic initiative for the city”.
Finally, he thanked all the municipal delegations involved such as Sports, Works and Contracting “for the great work done to carry out this technical specification” and has stated regarding the Marbella Soccer Club that “we are going to have great coordination with the sports institution throughout the process”. “We are facing an emblematic project that is respectful of its surroundings, which demonstrates the commitment of this government team to local sport”, he concluded.
