The plenary session of the Mijas City Council has approved this Tuesday a modification budget for a value of 49,209,336 euros to promote public works, the improvement of the city and the reinforcement of social policies, with which projects such as the Great Park of the Costa del Sol or the coastal path between La Cala and Fuengirola will be promoted, as reported by the mayor of the city, Josele González.

The councilor has highlighted that “this modification comes to give continuity to the work that the Government team has been carrying out in recent years, making it possible to run new infrastructure and launch projects necessary for the city”.

González also highlighted the “social nature of this budget change, which includes numerous items with aid for the city’s social groups such as Cudeca, ADIMI, AFESOL, AFAM, AFA, the Red Cross or the Spanish Association Against Cancer, among others.” , and whose investment amounts to 773,000 eurosan amount that is added to the 525,000 allocated to the aid plan for people with functional diversity, a benchmark in the province.

This budget modification, in charge of the treasury remnants, likewise includes a investment of 13 million euros for public works necessary to “continue improving our streets and roads, as well as to carry out the execution of large-scale projects such as the new stretch of coastal path between La Cala and the neighboring municipality of Fuengirola, the creation of public parks or the Great Park of the Costa del Sol”, he underlined.

For his part, the Councilor for the Treasury, Roy Pérez, has indicated that this modification also includes a “significant investment in employment protection, with 2.9 million allocated to the local employment program Renta Básica, as well as support for citizen participation and sports with aid to local groups and sports entities worth 250,000 euros and 800,000 euros respectively.

In addition, it has indicated that the modification “includes investments to continue improving the benefits to urbanizations from the municipality with 1,318,000 euros for the asphalt plan or for the installation of shades on public roads for a value of 224,000 euros”.

Likewise, and as detailed during the plenary session, the approved proposal includes 200,000 euros for the improvement of the beaches and its equipment; 750,000 euros for the improvement of the water supply networks; 250,000 euros for the Clean Point of Las Lagunas; 575,000 euros for the improvement of sports facilities; 100,000 euros for youth initiatives; 56,000 euros for aid to the AMPA or 30,000 euros for the aid program for public summer schools in Mijas; among other investments.
