Mijas Town Hall presented this Wednesday the new map as a triptych where the 22 beach bars are indicated of the city, an initiative that aims to promote and make visitors aware of the gastronomic offer of the coast of Mijas and traditional Andalusian cuisine, as announced by the Councilor for Tourism, José Carlos Martín.
The mayor has highlighted that “the gastronomy is one of our tourist segments on the rise, and in summer especially they are our beach establishments those that attract the gaze of all visitors, because while you enjoy a good swim in the sun in the Mediterranean Sea you can taste the best of the good food of our land”.
For this reason, the department has promoted this graphic material where you can locate along the coast the 22 beach bars from Mijas. In this way, Martín has indicated that “we make it even easier for all those visitors who come to our municipality, since each place has a photo, address, telephone number and a QR code on the triptych which also helps users to access the site”.
The idea arose as a result of the publication of the “Mijas Pueblo restaurant guide” at the request of the hoteliers, for which the City Council has decided to make a second document with the offer of the Mijas coast, of which up to “5,000 copies” will be printed during the summer distributed at the Tourist Offices of La Cala and Mijas in 4 languages, in addition to its dissemination on social networks.
Regarding the culinary offer of these beach establishments, the mayor highlighted “the typical skewers of Malaga cuisine”, while you have detailed that there are beach bars specialized in “meats, rice dishes or homemade desserts”, among others, in a “privileged environment”.
With this initiative, the area of Tourism continues to strengthen its tourist segmentsas well as supporting businessmen in the sector, underlined the municipal official, who highlighted that “Mijas is much more than ‘sun and beach’, but if we look even only in that area, we can proudly say that we have the best coast in southern Europe awarded with three blue flags, 9 Q of Quality, an ISO 14001, among others”. To this it has added other distinctions that recognize the tourist destination such as “the path and the blue center or the ‘Andalucía Segura’ and ‘Safe Tourism Certified’ seals”.
The department coordinated by Martín continues to work for the promotion of the main tourist segments of the locality, being those of sun and beach, golf, typical Andalusian town, nature, sports, gastronomy and crafts. Despite the pandemic, the sector in Mijas is gradually recovering, with forecasts becoming encouraging and positioning the numbers above those registered in 2019.
The tourist destination has managed to stand out in the last two years, especially among the national public, who has been the most faithful since the health crisis, since Mijas has been named ‘Capital of Rural Tourism in Malaga’ 2022, just as last year managed to be among the 20 best rural destinations on the coast of Spain and increased its searches in eBooking by 69 percent.
The campaign this season ‘The route selfie’ It has just been launched and one of the points has already been selected as one of the 15 favorite enclaves of the multinational ‘Nutella’ to visit this summer using one of his photographs in one of the packages of the special edition ‘Lo bien lo bien en casa’.
