The progressive opening of the Emergency Unit of the High Resolution Hospital (HAR) in Estepona (Málaga) is currently being carried out with a staff of 38 professionals. It is a service with which work will continue until its portfolio is completed, since the process of contracting the total staff is currently continuing to provide complete coverage for this service.
And it is that with the progressive opening of this unit, the staggered start-up of the different areas and services of this center continues, as planned and planned, until its total opening, after the start-up of the activity programmed in the Radiology area and in External Consultations last year.
This area, which has an approximate useful area of 1,300 square meters on the ground floor, was visited this Tuesday by the territorial delegate for Health and Consumer Affairs, Carlos Bautista, and the managing director of the Costa del Sol Hospital and affiliated centers, Antonio Cansino , together with the mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano.
The Emergencies of the Estepona HAR have the following rooms that will be at full capacity with the total opening of the unit: waiting room for family members, emergency admission, warden control and infirmary, space for patient transfer, two triage consultations, a resuscitation or critical room (CPR), a waiting room for patients, ten emergency consultations –medical, urgent, for electrocardiography, a technical room, a dressing room and a plaster room– and an observation room for eight armchairs.
They also have a space for observation of ten beds with two toilets for the public, a dirty office and a clean office. The unit also includes a space for pediatric emergencies that has two consultations for child care and one for techniques, assisted bathing and a pediatric waiting room.
ACTIVITY BALANCE HAR ESTEPONA
After the inauguration of this hospital by the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, on February 8, 2021 for the hospitalization of Covid patients transferred from the Costa del Sol Hospital – as a consequence of the evolution of the pandemic and within the Plan of Contingency– began its start-up in a staggered manner in the different areas with the start of the scheduled Radiology activity on March 19, 2021 and, later, on April 5 of the same year, it began its activity of External Consultations and Functional Tests .
Since then, the Radiodiagnosis area has carried out 11,496 tests, including: 2,583 mammograms, 687 CT scans, 1,469 ultrasound scans, 3,686 simple x-rays and 3,071 MRIs, as detailed by the Board in a statement.
For its part, in the consultation area, a total of 33,736 consultations have been carried out since its opening: 572 Anesthesiology, 1,321 General Surgery, 2,796 Internal Medicine, 1,622 Cardiology, 5,178 Digestive System, 164 Hematology, 911 of Pneumology, 661 of Ophthalmology, 4,626 of Otorhinolaryngology, 2,204 of Rehabilitation, 5,706 of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology, 4,508 of Urology, 2,079 of Gynecology and 1,368 of Obstetrics.
The healthcare activity in this center is intended to respond to the demand for these specialties from patients pending an appointment in the Manilva, Casares and Estepona areas, from the Sabinillas and Estepona health centres, although it is not ruled out in the future include other nearby towns, according to care needs.
The hospital built by the Estepona City Council and transferred to the Junta de Andalucía for its start-up and operation has 14,235.84 square meters built among which the different areas are distributed: Emergency, Multipurpose Hospitalization, Surgical area, External Consultations, Diagnostic Tests, Locomotor Apparatus, clinical support and non-care areas. It is a center that is designed under the model of high resolution, and ‘single act consultation’.
In terms of its staff, it has three operating rooms, 22 plus two individual rooms on the floor where the surgery hospitalization is located, and 16 individual rooms on the conventional hospitalization floor. It will have a total of 43 consultations distributed for the different services, two endoscopic rooms, one digestive and one respiratory, and 32 more care units and 19 non-care units.
