The Mayor of Mijas, Josele Gonzalezhas been shown this Tuesday “satisfied” with the approval of the municipality as disaster zone by the central government, after the great fires Forestry last July.

“From the City Council of Mijas we welcome satisfaction this type of initiative and the sensitivity that the Government of Spain is having with the affected areas”, indicated the alderman, where he asks for the collaboration of “all the administrations so that a Sierra Mijas-Alpujata reforestation and conservation planwhich was affected by the flames.

Specifically, the Council of Ministers approved on Tuesday the declaration of a zone seriously affected by a civil protection emergency for the territories affected by large fires in 15 autonomous communities; including Andalusia, where Mijas suffered damage from two fires declared on July 15 and 26.

The first of them was active for 20 days and devastated 1,875 hectares of the municipal districts of Mijas, Alhaurín de la Torre and Alhaurín el Grande. Due to the severity of the fire, level 1 of the Forest Fire Emergency Plan had to be activated and more than 3,000 people were evicted.

The second was suffocated in just three days, on July 28, but affected 116 hectares. In the same way, level 1 was activated due to the proximity of the flames to several urbanizations, which also had to be evicted.

Given this, the mayor of Mijas has conveyed the willingness of the City Council to collaborate with the rest of the administrations to launch a Plan for reforestation and conservation of the Sierra Mijas-Alpujata, as well as the declaration of this as a Natural Park “so that the resources allocated to the prevention and enhancement of the natural wealth of the Sierra Mijas are expanded throughout the year”.

The recovery measures provided for in the agreement approved this Tuesday, and whose execution corresponds to the Ministry of Interior, are aid for death or absolute and permanent disability, worth 18,000 euros; aid for the total destruction of the habitual residence up to a maximum amount of 15,120 euros, and aid for damages that affect the structure of the habitual residence, up to 50 percent of its technical valuation and with a limit of 10,320 euros.

A list that follows aid for damage that do not affect the structure of the habitual residence, up to 50 percent of its technical valuation and with a limit of 5,160 euros; aid for destruction or damage to household items of primary necessity in the habitual residence, for their replacement or repair, with a limit of 2,580 euros, and aid for damage to common elements of general use of a community of owners under a horizontal property, up to 50 percent of the technical valuation carried out by the Insurance Compensation Consortium and with a limit of 9,224 euros.

Lastly, it includes aid to natural or legal persons who have made personal and property benefits the total amount of expenses and aid to the owners of industrial, commercial and service establishments, including agricultural, maritime-fishing and tourist establishments: up to 9,224 euros.

The agreement also provides for the possibility of approving an exemption from the fees of the Central Traffic Headquarters Autonomous Body for duplicate driving or driving licenses, as well as cancellations of damaged vehicles.

The agreement approved by the Council of Ministers provides for the adoption of other aid measures, subject to what is established in the ministerial orders issued by each of the different competent departments to develop them. In this way, the different ministerial departments may declare certain areas of special action, as well as the emergency of the works necessary to repair the damage caused by any of these incidents in state-owned infrastructures included in their sphere of competence. Likewise, the royal decree provides for the granting of aid for damage to agricultural, livestock, forestry and marine aquaculture production.

Regarding tax benefits, the Treasury and Public Function will specify the exemption in the amount of the Tax on Real Estate and the reduction in the amount of the Tax on Economic Activities that correspond to the recipients of this aid, which as usual will be exempt from the Income Tax of Physical Persons. aid for personal injury.

For their part, the Ministries of Labor and Social Economy and of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration may develop labor and Social Security measures such as bonuses and exemptions from Social Security contributions. Also, local entities will receive aidfor an amount of up to 50 percent, to projects carried out by local entities to repair infrastructure, installations and municipal equipment.

Once a detailed report on the damage caused by these forest fires is drawn up and a technical assessment of its amount is available, the Government, in collaboration with the regional and local administrations, will be able to complete this royal decree with the adoption of other measures. complementary to those adopted by the territorial administrations to which the competence in matters of civil protection corresponds.
