The ground troops of the Infoca Plan, some 250 people, have had to withdraw due to the cloud above the Sierra Bermeja forest fire, which was declared this past Wednesday. In addition, the confinement of the population has been ordered in the Malaga municipalities of Genalguacil and Jubrique.
Adverse conditions continue to make it difficult to extinguish the “complex” fire, for which level 2 of the Forest Fire Emergency Plan of the Autonomous Community (Infoca Plan) has been declared, given the virulence of the fire, which has forced the eviction of more than 1,000 people and has claimed the life of a forest firefighter.
The Infoca Plan strives to contain the flames to prevent it from continuing to “devour” more forest mass. This fire has extreme conditions “that make almost any action useless.”
From the Directorate of Extinction of the Infoca Plan they have explained that the work this Friday is focusing on confining the fire to prevent the fire from continuing to advance. It is about preventing it from acquiring more potential and continuing to affect more forest mass.
Following the declaration of level 2 for the forest fire, which affects some 3,600 hectares, the regional management of the Regional Operational Center has assumed command and has reinforced the operation, which continues the fight against the flames.
