Agents of the National Police have dismantled in Marbella (Málaga) a criminal group specialized in committing robberies with force in homes and have arrested three people as allegedly responsible for at least nine robberies with force.

Those arrested used the slip and small forcing of the locks as their modus operandi. In addition, to access the housing blocks, they pretended to be tourists, wearing swimsuits, hats and glasses with which to make identification difficult, the National Police said in a statement.

Within the framework of this operation, two house searches have been carried out in which the agents have intervened in a vehicle and have recovered luxury bags, five high-end watches, gold jewelry, brand-name clothing and 18,595 euros.

The first investigations began in the month of July in Marbella as a result of several robberies in homes in the town. The modus operandi used was similar in all cases – slip or forcing of the lock.

Thus, continuing with the investigations, the agents confirmed that it was a criminal network made up of at least three people who pretended to be tourists to access the houses and perpetrate the assaults. To do this, the suspects dressed in beach outfits, hats, caps and sunglasses that also allowed them to hide their faces and make identification difficult.

Those investigated accessed the buildings by means of the slip and, for this, they used plastics and other tools that facilitated the opening of the doors. On other occasions they forced the access lock.

According to the investigations, two of those investigated materially perpetrated the robberies, while a third exercised surveillance tasks.

Finally, and after the investigations carried out, two of those investigated were arrested at Malaga airport when they were preparing to leave the country. The third was arrested during the investigation. All of them would have participated in at least nine home robberies in Marbella.

As a result of the operation, the agents recovered a large amount of jewelry, luxury bags, five high-end watches, brand-name clothing and 18,595 euros. They also intervened a vehicle in which a canine handler and his dog located, hidden in the roof of the car, foreign currency bills and tools for opening doors. The facts are known by the Court of Instruction Number 1 of Marbella.
