Agents of the National Police have arrested a 40-year-old fugitive in Mijas under a valid European arrest and surrender warrant (OEDE) issued by the Belgian authorities for a crime of drug trafficking and belonging to a criminal organization.
The investigated, after being sentenced to eight years in prison, fled to Spain to avoid admission to a prison. He was included in the Enfast network as one of the most wanted fugitives in the Belgian country.
As reported from the Provincial Police Station in a statement, through a business network dedicated to the transport of goods and people, the network to which the now detainee belonged distributed narcotic substances –cocaine and heroin– to different European countries.
In fact, in 2011 he was related to the transport of 172.80 kilograms of cocaine and, later, in 2013 he was convicted of belonging to a criminal organization that shipped more than 1,000 kilograms of heroin.
After being sentenced by the Belgian authorities to serve eight years in prison for a crime of drug trafficking and belonging to a criminal organization, he fled to Spain to avoid admission to a prison. The Belgian authorities then proceeded to request an OEDE to serve the said sentence.
The fugitive has been located and arrested on August 30, around 6:15 p.m., in the municipality of Mijas. This person adopted important security measures to avoid being located, even going so far as to use false documentation.
