The Marbella City Council will allocate this year about 1.5 million euros to maintenance of schools and extraordinary works in different educational centers of the city. The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, today visited the CEIP José Banús de Nueva Andalucía, in which the Consistory has carried out several actions, including two decks, the enclosure of the Children’s area and the fencing of the garden and he took the opportunity to “congratulate the entire educational community for the exemplary behavior they had last year to cope with a complicated situation.” “We are starting a new school year that will again be marked by the pandemic, but with the hope that the health situation will improve as the months progress,” he said.
The councilor recalled that the City Council has powers in conservation matters in the 26 Infant and Primary centers of the municipality, four of them arranged, in which they study a total of 11,200 students: “Our objective is to maintain our investment commitment to improving the infrastructures of these centers, where last year we invested one million euros throughout the municipality within the Municipal Maintenance Plan and this year will be 500,000 euros, at which will have to be added the works of the CEIP García Lorca wall (600,000 euros), the fitting out of a space for the implantation of a dining room in Carmen (200,000 euros) and the new emergency door in Vicente Aleixandre (150,000 euros) ”.
Regarding the works in El Carmen, the first mayor recalled that the priority of the Consistory, in collaboration with the Junta de Andalucía, happens because “all the centers have school canteen”. In this sense, “we have taken important steps in the Gil Muñiz, which will provide the service from next week, and now the necessary actions of greater complexity will be undertaken so that this school located in the Old Town of Marbella follows the same path and start it at the end of this quarter, ”he indicated, while underlining that they are promoting all measures against Covid-19.
For her part, the general director of Culture and Education of Marbella, Carmen Díaz, has indicated that they are very satisfied with the course of the past year, “a very complicated exercise due to the pandemic, which we achieved among the management teams, the educational community and the City Council surpass with outstanding ”. “Our intention is to continue improving the centers with the municipal plan to which extraordinary works will be added this year,” he specified.
