The Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) has presented this Thursday the latest news from the XXXVIII Marbella Gala Dinner which will take place on August 5 at Finca La Concepción in the municipality of Málaga.
With 15 days to go until the event is held, the organization expects it to be a success in favor of the fight against cancer, since 60% of the capacity is already covered and they hope to reach the goal of 500 diners “in order to obtain the highest possible profitability.”
Santiago Gómez-Villares, president of AECC in Marbella, together with María Matías Jiménez, Francisco Eduardo Sánchez, José Higuera and Javier Muñiz, all of them members of the Marbella board of directors and part of the organization of the Gala, have announced the details of this appointment.
Together with them were the councilor for Social Rights of the Marbella Town Hall, Isabel Cintado, and for Sports, Lisandro Vieytes; Miguel Gómez Molina, co-owner of Gómez & Molina, who once again donates his traditional jewelry chest that is raffled with the numbering of the entry; Ivan Corzo, Sales&Marketing Manager of the Hard Rock Hotel, and Kike Supermix, who will be the DJ in charge of the end of the party.
Of the sponsors attended by Gerardo Cuartero, commercial director of Andalucía Oriental Sur of Caixabank; Alejandro Terroba, marketing director of Group C of Salamanca; Judith López Cantalapiedra, manager of Clínica Premium, and Jaime Canivell, managing partner of Derraíz, the company that makes the menu.
The president of AECC Marbella has highlighted the importance of this edition, since “the benefits of the Gala represent approximately 40% of the annual budget of the Marbella headquarters”, and, although the services are guaranteed, “if the Gala is a success that will allow us continue to expand services for our patients“. The goal is to help achieve 70% survival in cancer, and that, he recalled, “can only be achieved with more resources and more research.”
The Spanish Association Against Cancer integrates patients, family members, volunteers and professionals who work to prevent, raise awareness, accompany affected people and finance cancer research projects that will allow better diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
Today, it is the social and private entity that allocates the most funds to cancer research with 104 million euros committed to 525 projects, in which more than 1,000 researchers from all over Spain participate.
That’s why the benefits obtained with the Marbella Gala Dinner they will be used to finance cancer research projects and to maintain the programs and services that are provided free of charge to cancer patients in Marbella and their families.
Dinner, raffle and music
On this occasion, the Gala menu will begin with a welcome cocktail, where the Takumi companies participate, setting up a Japanese food corner; Primeria, with its oyster corner; Delicias Gourmet, which will dedicate its space to a selection of cheeses; the quality of Jamones Popi, the contribution of Moët&Chandon, and the novelty this year of Mays General, which will offer a caviar tasting corner. The dinner will go hand in hand with the Derraíz firm, which is the premium catering brand of the Gorki Group, and will be paired with wines from the Viña Salceda Winery.
During the course of the dinner, the traditional charity rafflewhich this year again reaches 300 gifts and it is consolidated as one of the most important in Spain, with the cost of the ballot being 20 euros. With the number of the ticket, the jewelery chest always offered by Gómez & Molina Joyeros will be raffled.
Among the auction gifts is a ball signed by the Sevilla FC squada shirt signed by the Atlético De Madrid players and some Kilian Mbappe boots. There will also be an Access Card for access to Puerto Banús; works of art by Francisco Alarcón, Ángeles Miranda and Francisco Santiesteban; a pink HardRock Hotel guitar personalized by Jogis Art, or a two-night stay in the Presidential Suite at the Intercontinental Hotel in Madrid with flights included from Malaga on Air Europa.
In this edition the performances that are already confirmed are those of John Pena and the DJ Kike Supermix, although since the organization of the Gala, work continues for more musical surprises. The edition will be led by Eva Ruiz, presenter of Canal Sur, and by the choreographer and television presenter Poty Castillo.
This year, The Fighter Award, whose objective is to highlight those people who have contributed to the normalization of the word cancer and who help, with their example of overcoming and fighting, other people to face the disease, has fallen on the singer Lolita Flores, who has already confirmed that will personally attend the Gala to receive it.
One day before the Gala, AECC celebrates the Golf Against Cancer Tournament at Marbella Club, under the Best Stableford Ball Pair modality. Registration is already at 50% and it is expected to reach the maximum number of 72 players before the end of July.
