The mayor of Torremolinos (Málaga), Margarita del Cid, has highlighted that “leisure, culture and traditions will shake hands as it has not happened for many years at the San Miguel Fair 2022”, which will feature performances by Ana Mena, Invisible Dance, Corridor Effect and Los Rebujitos.
“Paradise is dressed in flamenco and rosemary,” said Del Cid, who presented this Wednesday the programming and news of these festivities that will be held from September 28 to October 2 and his pilgrimage, which will be on September 25.
The presentation was attended by the town crier of the fair, Pepi Montes from Torremolinos, Javier Ojeda, representative of Danza Invisible, and representatives of the Brotherhood of San Miguel and the traditional booths.
“We want this city to once again have a fair without complexes, giving the best version of itself,” said the mayor, who thanked the people of Torremolinos “for their patience, since September 2019 it has been a long wait.” “There is a desire for a fair, there is a desire for a pilgrimage, and together we are going to make Torremolinos look like never before,” she said.
Thus, he has indicated that on September 25 the city will meet again in the street with its patron, San Miguel, in the traditional pilgrimage and as a novelty, the pilgrimage mass is recovered in the hermitage. At 09.15 hours the blessing of pilgrims and departure of the patron will take place. Starting at 10:30 a.m., the procession will leave from Los Manantiales avenue, resuming its traditional route through Plaza Costa del Sol and Palma de Mallorca avenue.
The other novelty on this day of the pilgrimage is that from 4:30 p.m. a series of musical performances will take place on the esplanade of the Hermitage of San Miguel with the groups Callejón, Carlos Bravo and Ecos del Rocío.
The San Miguel Fair will begin on Wednesday, September 28 with a floral offering before San Miguel in the Madre del Buen Consejo parish, which is also a novelty compared to previous years. That same day at night, the XXXVII Proclamation of the fair will be held by Pepi Montes in the Plaza de España at 8:00 p.m.
Starting at 9:30 p.m., a video mapping will be projected on the façade of the municipal auditorium, another novelty this year. At night, the activity will begin at the fairgrounds with the fairground attractions and booths. This year the children’s municipal booth will be located in the area of children’s attractions.
The guest artist for this first day of the fair in the municipal auditorium starting at 00.00 hours will be the singer Ana Mena, as highlighted in the presentation.
On September 29 at 10:00 a.m. it will start with the mass in honor of the patron saint of Torremolinos in Plaza San Miguel and the subsequent procession at 11:00 a.m., organized by the Brotherhood of San Miguel.
The daytime fair will be held from this very day in the main squares of the municipality, such as the Costa del Sol, where for the first time there will be performances every day; in La Nogalera, in the European Union and in San Miguel. In addition, for the first time a fair cover will be installed on Calle San Miguel.
At night at the Príncipe de Asturias Municipal Auditorium it will be the turn of Danza Invisible, Javier Ojeda’s band. They will complete the list of artists, Conexión Pasillo, on September 30 and Los Rebujitos, on October 1.
During all the days of the fair, numerous local artists and groups will also perform, such as Macarena Soto, Naiala, Esperanza Márquez, Marta Ripoll or Roldán, among others. On October 2, the Day of the Boy and the Girl will be celebrated at the Fairgrounds, with the fair attractions at reduced prices.
From the government team it is intended that the fair be safe, that is why some violet and rainbow points are going to be installed during the pilgrimage, in the Fairgrounds and in the day fair; In addition to having a special schedule without lights and without music between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. in the attractions and fair stalls, thinking that children with autism spectrum problems can also enjoy the fair.
«We really want the fair, we really want Torremolinos. Paradise dresses up in flamenco and rosemary; and we are going to enjoy it like never before », the mayor concluded her intervention.
