The elected candidate of the Popular Party (PP), Ángeles Muñoz, has been re-elected as mayor of Marbella in the plenary session for the constitution of the new municipal Corporation, where she has promised to promote “promote a cosmopolitan, plural, open city, leader in generating opportunities and benchmark in innovation”.
The plenary session began at 12:00 with the oath and promise of the 27 councilors that make up the new Corporation, such as 14 from the PP after obtaining 19,646 votes in the last municipal elections, the PSOE with 8 by obtaining 12,473 votes, OSP with 3 by recruiting 4,631 votes and Vox with 2 councilors by obtaining 4,050 votes.
Subsequently, there has been submission of applications of each municipal group, to which the voting has continued, with 14 votes for the PP candidate, Ángeles Muñoz, 8 for José Bernal of the PSOE, 2 for Eugenio Moltó of Vox and 3 blank votes.
During his speech, Muñoz pointed out that “this clear majority will allow us to provide a strong and stable government” in Marbella, stressing that he is committed to “promote a cosmopolitan, plural, open city, leader in generating opportunities and a benchmark in innovation”, as well as “defending the just claims of this city in a loyal manner”.
The case investigated by the National Court of alleged drug trafficking and criminal organizationin which the stepson of the mayor of the Popular Party (PP), Ángeles Muñoz, is being prosecuted, has bypassed the polls last Sunday, May 28, giving the municipal elections as a result the fourth absolute majority for the popular in the town of Marbella.
The voters gave the Popular Party a total of 19,593 votes513 more than the 19,080 votes collected in the 2019 municipal elections, the popular ones achieving a victory that will allow the formation to govern alone for the next 4 years.
