The City Council of Marbella has awarded the construction works of the new Sports Pavilion of San Pedro Alcántara to the company Guamar SA for a value of 5.6 million euros, an action that will have an execution period of 15 months and whose commissioning of the equipment is expected in spring 2023, as highlighted by the Deputy Mayor sampedreño, Javier García.

The play went out to tender last September and the Local Government Board of the Municipality of Marbella proceeded to its award in December, with its publication on the 29th on the state contracting platform.

“The objective is distribute public facilities, in this case sports, throughout the urban area of San Pedro and respond to the needs of sports clubs when it comes to training and games because right now, with a single pavilion such as Elena Benítez, it is clearly insufficient ”, has referred the deputy mayor of Sampedreño.

As he has indicated, “there is a award proposal and now the winning company has a period of fifteen days to present the documentation and the corresponding guarantees ”. This will be followed by “the signing of the contract”, so the Council’s forecast is “to start the work before the end of January.”

The term of execution of the construction work of the equipment “is 15 months”, projecting the end of work and commissioning “by spring 2023“Said García, who recalled that it will be located in” a plot of sports equipment in the southern area of San Pedro, specifically in the URP-SP-10 sector, which is the area in which in the last years had the fair been installed ”.

Between the characteristics of the covered sports hall, García has pointed out that it will have “a central court, 3 side courts, about 1000 spectator seats and with all the necessary technology not only so that federal meetings can be held, but even national and international ones.” In turn, it will have “a multipurpose room, another for infirmary, bleachers, warehouses and we have introduced improvements at the level of digital markers.”

“The approach is that it be a modern pavilion, with an iconic design that in the southern area of San Pedro will respond to the needs of all”, but what the Marbella City Council seeks is that “the southern area meets educational facilitiesJust as the institute is currently being built by the Junta de Andalucía and we are drafting the project for the School of Music and Dance, which will be very close to this new pavilion ”, the municipal official highlighted.

The contract also contemplates the urbanization of outdoor areas, with the construction of parking spaces, “sidewalks, landscaping or lighting,” added the mayor.
