The mayor of Casares, José Carrasco, explained this Monday that, right now, the Sierra de Bermeja fire is far from the town, so “there is no danger.” The media are working intensely to prevent the flames from continuing to advance.
The troops continue the fight against the fire, which was declared this past Wednesday and affects 7,400 hectares. Last night has been “intense” on all fronts “, although, according to Infoca they have worked with” better conditions in general around the perimeter “. At this time, as they have explained, efforts are aimed at containing the eastern flank and its advance towards Casares and Monte Duque.
In this regard, the mayor of Casares has detailed in relation to his municipality that the fire is located in the southern area of Sierra Bermeja, the area that faces the coast in whose area in Casares there is a polygon, the MSW plant and some disseminated, but “right now there is no danger at all.”
On the other hand, he has spoken of the other point, where the municipality adjoins Genalguacil, where “it is entering the town a bit”, but “they are working with powerful machinery, with great force”.
“There is a danger that it could advance towards the town, because of what they are trying to contain, but we have no danger in the town right now,” he insisted.
Finally, he reiterated that the danger is far from the people and, therefore, influencing that the media are working. “Right now we are relatively calm in relation to the risk that the disseminated ones may have within the town,” he concluded.
