The Casares City Council has started the contracting process for the works of the Social Center for the Elderly. A project that will involve a comprehensive reform of the old house of culture, in the “Peñon Roao”, to adapt the facilities to the needs of the elderly.

As explained by the mayor, Pepe Carrasco, the reform will mean the internal rehabilitation of the building, preserving its external structure. Architectural barriers will be eliminated by equipping the center with an elevator to improve accessibility to all floors. And the entrance is going to be reformed, renovating the toilet area and with the creation of a distributor for access to the different areas.

The ground floor of level -1, which was the old library, will be adapted for the new use of the municipal soup kitchen and its kitchens, while the rest of the building will be adapted to the users of the School of Memory, with spaces for treatment for the elderly, including a multipurpose and nursing room, as well as a psychomotricity room on the upper floor, which will house a gym area for physical exercises and rehabilitation.

The project has a base budget of 556,992 euros. The tender document is published on the State Contracting Platform where interested companies can submit offers until next October 25.
