The National Police has dismantled in Marbella a criminal group to which the theft of a safe with 70,000 euros is attributed at the Starlite festival facilities. Last August, Starlite Marbella denounced the theft of its safe after one of the concerts that were held, specifically that of the Argentine Nathy Peluso.

This is one more of the crimes committed by this group specialized in robberies with force and that would have acted in establishments and homes located in the towns of Marbella, Estepona, Mijas, Coín and Guaro. The investigation, initiated as a result of the theft last August of the Starlite safe, with 70,000 euros, has allowed the identification and arrest of seven people for their alleged responsibility in the events.

In the four searches carried out, within the framework of what has been called Operation Star, the agents 20,000 euros in cash have been intervened, in addition to narcotic substances, electronic devices and numerous effects from robberies. The competent judicial authority has decreed the entry into prison of the three main investigated.

In the middle of last August, the theft of a safe containing 70,000 euros, in Starlite began the investigation, carried out by the Specialized and Violent Crime Unit (UDEV), attached to the Marbella Police Station.

The modus operandi used for the theft of the safe was due to power outages and disconnection of the surveillance cameras after the concert, which determined that the architects of the robbery had specific knowledge of electricity, in addition to also knowing perfectly well the operation of the security devices used in the festival.

Continuing with the investigations, the agents verified that several of the festival workers, with a record of crimes against the heritage, belonged to a criminal group dedicated to robberies in offices, establishments and even homes, receiving commissioned work, they have specified from the National Police in a statement.

According to the investigations carried out, the network he would have even stolen from law firms that had previously represented those under investigation. The members of the criminal group were highly qualified and among them there was a clear distribution of functions.

Thus, while the leader selected the targets, others three members of the network were in charge of executing the robberies. For their part, the rest of the members dedicated themselves to keeping the stolen effects and looking for an outlet for them, as well as acquiring narcotic substances with the benefits of the illicit activity.

Behind the total identification of all the components of the group, the agents proceeded to arrest seven people – five men and two women – as allegedly responsible for the crimes of belonging to a criminal group and robbery with force.

During the development of Operation Star, the agents have clarified a dozen robberies with force and have carried out four house searches in the towns of Guaro, Estepona and Marbella, Intervening a large number of stolen effects, electronic devices, narcotic substances, tools for drug trafficking, a moped, doubled license plates and 20,000 euros in cash.

Those arrested and the proceedings processed were placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction number 2 of Marbella, authority that decreed the entry into prison of the three main investigated in the case.
