Several business organizations have requested this Monday to the Government of the Nation speed up the execution of projects aimed at stabilizing the Marbella coastline, an action that they consider vital to maintain the positioning of the city as a quality destination and for the entertainment of the neighbors.
This has been highlighted by the Center for Tourism Initiatives (CIT Marbella), representing various groups, denouncing that the lack of aggregates derived from reservoirs, the dynamics of the coastline, storms and urban development itself from the coast have caused a serious deterioration and degradation of the 27 kilometers of coastline Marbella has, something that especially affects urban beaches, threatening its very existence in some sections.
The associations have indicated that the central government must put all the interest at the service of this project to “overcome with science and financial resources the inconveniences that are delaying stabilization of the entire planned coastal area, including the stretch of urban beach from west of the fishing port (La Bajadilla) to the Virgen del Carmen marina, currently not included in the Ministry’s project ”.
The groups have highlighted that “it is vital for Marbella, both for the full of development and development of its tourist activity to cover the leisure needs of its population, to have beaches with a minimum of sufficient quality and size ”.
In this sense, the complainant groups have indicated that “the quality of the beaches of Marbella should serve as a business card for quality tourism, which neither corresponds nor can be predicted with the current state of the same ”, recalling that tourist cities of this level have dike systems and breakwaters that guarantee the stability of its beaches like neighboring Estepona, Malaga in Pedregalejo and el Palo, Barcelona Poble Nou, San Remo (Italy), Mentón, Nice, Antibes or Cannes in France, among other holiday destinations.
In addition, they have criticized that “currently many of the local population is forced to move outside the municipality to look for quality beaches, of which they do not have in their own city “, ensuring that” hehe environmental challenges posed by these dikes have been overcome in other destinations and we wonder how this is not possible in our case. “
On the other hand, they have regretted that “the present Betancorurt, SLU’s works project has its origin in a previous beach recovery project, which provided for the construction of new dikes, as well as the expansion of the fishing port “, which dates from 2010 and “did not bear fruit either.”
The claim is shared by the Association of Hotel Entrepreneurs of the Costa del Sol (AEHCOS), the Center for Tourism Initiatives (CIT Marbella), the Malaga Hoteliers Association (MAHOS), the Business Association of Travel Agencies of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia (AEDAV), la Beach Businessmen Association – Costa del Sol (EPLAYAS), the Emerging Spigots for Marbella Association, the Federation of Marbella and San Pedro Neighborhood Associations and the Federation of Neighborhood Neighborhood Associations in Marbella.
