The municipalities of Torremolinos and Estepona they have also decided suspend their traditional New Year’s Eve parties due to the sixth wave of Covid and the increase in infections that are taking place.
In the municipality of Estepona, it has been reported that the traditional New Year’s Eve party held in the Plaza del Reloj has been suspended. This measure is adopted following the recommendations of the health authorities before the advance of Covid-19. Thus, they have stressed that it is “important to continue taking extreme precautions to avoid the spread of the virus.”
Estepona and Torremolinos thus join other towns that have decided to suppress this and other festivals from the Christmas program due to the sixth wave of Covid al impact of the Omicron variant, with a high number of infections.
In addition to this Malaga town, Malaga city also reported the cancellation of the traditional New Year’s Eve party in the Plaza de la Constitución, where many people used to drink the grapes. Likewise, other Malaga municipalities such as Coín, Alhaurín de la Torre or Fuengirola, among others, did the same.
In the case of Torremolinos, all events related to New Year’s Eve and New Year’s have been canceled for health reasons, as well as the San Silvestre, scheduled for the morning of December 31. Regarding the rest of Christmas events, it will be reported in the coming days.
