The remodeling works on Cardenal Herrera Oria street of Estepona have begun with the purpose of modernizing and transforming the existing infrastructures, an initiative that counts with a budget of 232,648.20 euros for give continuity to the work of improvement and urban transformation, as reported this Wednesday by the deputy mayor of the Department of Development, Infrastructure and Tourism (FIT) Ana Velasco.
The mayor has highlighted that the works include the comprehensive renovation of underground services such as telephony, gas, electricity network and water supply network. Also, it will homogeneously renew the flooring and furniture with more efficient elements.
According to Velasco, this action is aimed at modernize and transform existing infrastructure and give continuity to the urban improvement and transformation work that is being carried out in the city through the ‘Estepona, Garden of the Costa del Sol’ project. Until now, this municipal initiative has meant the renovation and beautification of more than 130 streets, that add up to more than 18 kilometers of roads in the urban core.
The works, which are being carried out by the company General de Viales SL with a budget of 232,648.20 euros (VAT included), are financed through the subsidy that the Ministry of Tourism, Regeneration, Justice and Administration of the Junta de Andalucía has granted to the Consistory for the appointment of Estepona as a tourist municipality. The term of execution of the works is two months.
This action will allow, as in the rest of the roads where action has been taken, the removal of architectural barriers with the aim of improving the use for pedestrians and thus giving continuity to the adjacent streets, which were also recently renovated. In this sense, the project that will be carried out in Cardenal Herrera Oria street will complement the remodeling carried out a few months ago in surrounding streets such as Barcelona, Isaac Albéniz or Valladolid.
On the other hand, there will be a important aesthetic improvement of this street and you will get one revegetation of this urban area with the planting of trees and new landscaping.
The municipal project ‘Estepona, Jardín de la Costa del Sol’, launched in 2012, has achieved revitalize and renew the urban center, creating a sustainable, more habitable space with a better quality of life; while it has supposed a valuable economic and social impact after consolidating this enclave as a focus of tourist attraction and commercial reactivation.
