The Malaga municipality of Estepona will host the Andalusian Women’s Basketball Cup, which will take place this Saturday, September 24, and will face Milar Córdoba and CAB Estepona Jardín de la Costa del Sol, the two Andalusian teams that play in the League Challenge.

This new edition was presented this Wednesday at an event in which the director general of Sport Systems and Values, María de Nova; the Provincial Deputy for Sports, Cristóbal Ortega; the president of the Andalusian Basketball Federation, Antonio de Torres; the director of the Sports Area of ​​the Provincial Council, Borja Vivas; the deputy mayor of the Estepona City Council, Begoña Ortiz; the vice president of CAB Estepona, Sebastián González, and the president of Milar Córdoba, Sebastián del Rey.

During the presentation, María de Nova thanked on behalf of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports “the continuous work carried out by the Andalusian Basketball Federation, in its training work and in bringing to Andalusian society the values ​​of sport that are so it well represents this modality: self-improvement, teamwork, effort, etc.».

De Nova has also highlighted that “the promotion of sports practice goes hand in hand with the organization of sporting events, and in the Ministry we have a very clear objective, the promotion of women’s sports in the community.” To end her intervention, the general director wished the best to the two participating teams in this competition.

The José Antonio Pineda pavilion in the municipality of Estepona will host the meeting between the two Andalusian teams that play in the highest category of women’s basketball at the Andalusian level, the Challenge League. The team from Estepona faces its second season in the Challenge category. In the first year of the competition, the Costa Ricans achieved a more than creditable sixth place, which earned them play in the playoffs for promotion to the highest category of national basketball. A priori, his experience and playing at home give him a slight favoritism to win the first title of the season.

Opposite they will have as rival the players of Milar Córdoba BF, a new club in the category, but full of enthusiasm and that have been reinforced with the aim of at least maintaining the category, for this they have signed the young and promising coach for the bench Catalan Mireia Capdevila, who has obtained the silver medal as a member of the coaching staff this summer with the U16 women’s team.
