The Estepona City Council has approved this Thursday in plenary session that those registered can visit the Mirador del Carmen exhibition spacewhich will open with 50 works from the Thyssen collection in early April, as reported by the mayor, José María García Urbano.

For this, it will proceed to the delivery of two annual invitations to those registered in the city to visit the Mirador El Carmen exhibition center for free, as is the case with other spaces in the town such as Selwo or the Botanical-Orquidario Park.

In this way, the Consistory will continue with its project to bring culture closer to citizensmaking it easier for them to enjoy the great national and international art exhibitions that this space will host, which will become a cultural benchmark in Andalusia due to its characteristics and the quality and interest of the samples that it will host.

The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, explained that the exhibition center will open its doors in the first days of April with an exhibition of works of Spanish art belonging to the private collection of Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza.

The councilor has valued the cultural and social impact that this initiative will entail for the city, thus giving a valuable boost to the cultural and artistic offer in Estepona. In addition, he has referred to the commitment that has been made in the last decade to develop a model of a sustainable city and quality of life, which has been a clear dynamic element of cultural, social and economic activity in the municipality.

On the other hand, he has announced that the Consistory will also organize a open house series so that the citizens of Estepona can enjoy the impressive views that can be glimpsed from the tower of Mirador El Carmen.

El Mirador will house a vertical library

He Mirador del Carmen projectwhich is complemented by the remodeling and pedestrianization of Avenida de España, will house a large vertical library and study spaces, a music conservatory, an auditorium for cultural events, a relevant exhibition room that will open with pieces from the Carmen Thyssen collection and a viewpoint that, without a doubt, will become another significant element of attraction for visitors, since it will be a vantage point where you can enjoy the marine essence of the city.

The mayor has indicated that this initiative will be the culmination of the urban and tourist revitalization of Estepona, placing the town at the forefront of cities that are committed to the quality of life, sustainability and well-being of citizens. “This new area has become a place of transition between the embellished urban nucleus, the ‘Garden of the Costa del Sol’, and the Mediterranean coast, with a new revitalized space, more pleasant, open to pedestrians, full of nature and which is already one of the favorite places to walk and enjoy the city”, he added.
