The City Council of Estepona has started the assisted bathing program on the Cristo beach at sea, intended for people with reduced mobility or disabilities who use the Municipal Home Help Service, a service provided for free and that it has socio-sanitary technicians and adapted material, as reported this Thursday by the deputy mayor of the Socio-cultural area, Begoña Ortiz.

The municipal official has influenced the need to carry out this initiative every summersince its objective is that these people who cannot go to the beach by their own means or have serious difficulties to do so, can enjoy a day of baths that provides benefits for their health and well-being. This activity is included in the program of Social Relations, Leisure and Free Time activities of the Community Social Services.

The mayor has reported that every week 10 people participate, which are divided into two groups of 5, one of which will attend on Tuesdays and the other on Thursdays. The Sessions take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the Cristo beachan easily accessible area that has parking for people with disabilities, changing rooms and showers.

Participants have at all times the assistance of two assistants from the Home Help Service, of the Arquisocial concession company. On the other hand, for the transfer of these people from their homes to the beach, there is the collaboration of the Association of the Disabled of Estepona ASDIES, which provides a six-seater adapted vehicle, two of them for people with reduced mobility who need a wheelchair to get around.

For her part, the councilor attached to the Playas delegation, Susana Aragón, has reported that the users of this program also have the support of two amphibious chairs, an adapted lounger, a walker and a set of special crutches to move around the sand. If necessary, the material can be expanded according to demand and the needs of the participants.

Likewise, the mayor recalled that, in addition to this activity aimed at users who need help at home, the Estepona City Council offers a daily assisted bathing service on the beaches of La Rada and El Cristowhich will be available until September 15, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.: To lend this service, which is free, there are socio-sanitary technicians and varied adapted material.

The Consistory has also installed catwalks with a special width in the public accesses to the beaches, which allows the transit of wheelchairs. In addition, they have arranged shaded areas intended for people with mobility difficulties.
