The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, and the president of the Federation of Associations of Mothers and Fathers of Students of Malaga (FDAPA), Enrique Medina, have signed this Tuesday a collaboration agreement for the celebration of summer schools during this month of August in the facilities of five educational centers in the city, in which more than 500 Infant and Primary students will be attended.
As recorded in the collaboration agreement, the Consistory cedes the facilities of the different educational centers so that FDAPA can design and organize the different workshops that are aimed at students from 3 to 12 years old.
In this edition it expands the number of infant and primary schools, therefore, students from 3 to 12 years old will be able to enjoy these activities in the schools of Santo Tomás de Aquino, Gloria Fuertes, Sierra Bermeja, Antonio Machado and Ramón Lago (Canceled), which means that this service will be provided this summer to some 570 boys and girls in the municipality.
These activities, designed for each age, help complete the training of minors and that they use their free time in an appropriate way. In addition to allowing students to enjoy these leisure activities, summer schools make it easier for mothers and fathers to reconcile their working days with their children’s vacations.
FDAPA has indicated that, in each of the educational centers, there is a quota of five places for students at risk of social exclusion. Also, there is a specific classroom for children with special needs, provided that there is a minimum of seven students who require this service.
The mayor explained that the City Council of Estepona will continue to support the public school with actions as necessary as summer schools, since they allow families to better organize the summer season. He also highlighted the FDAPA and AMPAS involvement of the five educational centers for procuring this much-needed activity in the municipality.
This activity has affordable prices for families that range between 130 and 169 euros, depending on the days and hours that the students attend. The summer school schedule will be from 08:00 to 15:30 and there is the possibility of contracting the dining room service that costs 5.5 euros per day.
