The Estepona municipal budget (Malaga) for the year 2022 has been in force since last January 1. The economic document, which was definitively approved at the November plenary session, contemplates income of more than 109 million euros, places expenses at 108 million euros and therefore foresees a surplus of more than 806,000 euros.
It is about accounts that contemplate “the greatest investment effort in history of the city so that the City Council continues to be the engine of the local economy, of recovery and of the quality of life “, they have reported this Tuesday from the Consistory through a statement.
Thus, the items to continue with projects “committed to the electoral program and decisive for the consolidation of the city model developed in the last decade, which has had such a valuable economic and social impact for Estepona”.
Also, “the budget maintains rigor, credibility, principles of responsibility and compliance with the regulations that apply to it. In addition to a marked social character, where the economic amounts linked to aid and social programs for the most vulnerable groups continue to be ‘expandable items’; that is, they will be unlimited in nature and may be increased according to the needs that occur during the financial year “, they have highlighted.
On the other hand, the investment character that has marked the management of the last ten years is reinforced. Specifically, items for productive investments included in the budget, they grow to 22.6 million euros, “the highest figure recorded in the history of the city.”
Specifically, they are the amounts for the creation of a ‘Balcony to the Mediterranean‘, that is, a large urban space that will open the city to the sea, creating a new and valuable focus of tourist attraction.
Amounts are also included to finalize the works of the new Town Hall building, which will bring together municipal agencies and improve the service to citizens, and for the municipal parking plan, which includes the completion of the parking work for half a thousand vehicles in the Chess Square and the remodeling of this environment.
It contemplates games for the completion and maintenance of the littoral corridor project which is joining the entire waterfront and for the continuity of the remodeling of the promenade in the section between La Cala-Jacaranda.
Resources are also allocated for the continuity of the process of remodeling and beautification of the urban center, which now has more than 130 streets renovated in all its infrastructures and which has meant a before and after in the revitalization of the city through the sustainable development project ‘Estepona, Garden of the Costa del Sol’.
Another of the relevant aspects included in the 2022 budget is the continuation in the payment of inherited debt in June 2011, which amounted to 304 million. Specifically, it is contemplated to allocate 21 million euros during 2022 so that this debit is reduced to 50 million euros, which will imply having paid, at the end of the year, more than 83% of those 304 million euros.
