The Sierra Bermeja forest fire, which affects some 3,600 hectares in the Malaga municipalities of Estepona, Jubrique, Genalguacil and Benahavís, continues to be active. Thus, after the declaration of level 2 of the Forest Fire Emergency Plan of the Autonomous Community (Infoca Plan), which implies that the regional management of the Regional Operational Center assumes command, it has been decided to reinforce the operation.
Specifically, with two more Seals (hydroplanes) from the State to the four that are already in operation since last Thursday and a Kamov helicopter. In addition, two BRIFs have already been requested from the State with eleven personnel each and a helicopter. In total, five more air means and 22 troops for the reinforcement, have specified from the Andalusian Government.
Thus, around thirty air assets are available along with more than 350 troops on the ground. More than 400 professionals work in the operation (419).
The deputy director of the COR, Alejandro García, has detailed that this level 2 implies, in addition to regional coordination, that the door is opened to the use of means external to the Infoca Plan, remembering that the Ministry already supported with means and now they have expanded.
