FYM-HeidelbergCementGroup, within the framework of the annual collaboration agreement that it maintains with the Casares City Council, has contributed to the organization of three workshops and two camps this summer in which more than 600 people have participated with the aim of raising awareness among the population on the problem of a non-finite resource such as water.

Specifically, this action has been carried out by the Environment Area of the Casares City Council in collaboration with the company Quesada & Pastor Consultores SL

The activities, which have been aimed mainly at children, have dealt with the problem of water scarcity, in addition to promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly habits; encourage the population to keep the beaches clean, and raise awareness about the importance of saving water.

The awareness workshops have consisted of a theoretical talk and the performance of two experiments related to the contamination of water by batteries and the danger of misusing toilet paper and wipes.

Attendees have also been shown the need to save water in public fountains and showers on the beaches, showing how much water is used each time the button is activated.

In this way, it has been possible to approach the need to save water in a fun and playful way, as well as to show, through different games and dynamics, the ease with which water can be contaminated if not acted on correctly.

And it is that the scarcity of water is one of the most important environmental problems today due directly to climate change, since the lack of rainfall causes the moderation of the resource for living beings, and seriously affects agriculture and livestock .

This is not the first collaboration between FYM-HeidelbergCementGroup and the Casares City Council, since the company has also collaborated in the renovation of the flooring of the Iglesia de la Encarnación de Casares, which is part of a new phase of the enhancement project of the Capuchin Convent of Casares, which dates back to the 18th century and is unique in the entire region due to its size. In addition, it has collaborated in an environmental education program “Econciencia Casares”, aimed at both primary schools in the municipality and the adult population promoted by the Municipal Environment Area in collaboration with Green Globe Sustainability and Environmental Projects.
