Journalists Jesús Ortiz, Daniel Marín, Alberto Fuentes and Julio Rodríguez have been the winners of the I City of Marbella Sports Journalism Award, whose decision and delivery of awards took place in the Taberna del Alabardero, in San Pedro Alcántara.
The first prize, named Gold pen, has been for the work ‘Carmen Riu, the first Spanish Paralympic medalist’, by Jesús Ortiz García. The Silver Pen (second prize) has gone to ‘The boy from that old photo’, by Daniel Marín García. The third prize (Bronze pen) has been for ‘Voces’, by Alberto Fuentes López. The Second prize Antonio Naranjo, for those works presented that had a specific relationship with Marbella, it has been for ‘Pedro Iborra a coach without limits’, by Julio Rodríguez Zamorano.
The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, has chaired the event accompanied by the president of the Association of Sports Journalists of Malaga, Antonio Rengel, and the Secretary General for Sports of the Junta de Andalucía, José María Arrabal.
The jury of the I Ciudad de Marbella Sports Journalism Award has been made up of Maria Jesus Fernandez, PhD in Communication, professor at the University of Malaga (UMA) and author of five books on communication issues; Juan Ignacio Gallardo, director of the sports newspaper Marca; Carmen Enciso, Law graduate, novelist, essayist and columnist. He has participated in magazines such as Litoral and in numerous anthologies of stories; Hugo Simon, Communication Director of the Marbella City Council, and Laura Pérez Torres, Director of Sports Advancement and Vice President of the Malaga Sports Journalists Association (APDM). The act was presented by Cristina Mena, a journalist for Canal Sur and a member of APDM.
