Marbella City Council has renewed the agreement with the Red Cross to guarantee one more year of assistance to the homeless in the municipality. The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, has signed this week the collaboration agreement with the president of the entity in Marbella, Susana Radío, for which the Consistory will allocate more than 440,000 euros, and has added that it is “the most important aid that we subscribe with a social collective from our institution”.
The first mayor has stressed that the Red Cross “has great professionals to develop the service and offer an immediate response to these people who are in a high degree of vulnerability. The objective is that anyone who is in this situation receives the necessary and specialized attention to help them in everything they need”, said the councilor, who has announced that this agreement will be maintained in the budgets for next year.
For its part, Radio has pointed out that “continuity is great news and demonstrates the City Council’s commitment to continue favoring the citizens who most need help.” “From Cruz
Roja we have adapted the service from the specific center, located in the neighborhood of Miraflores, and we have attended to more than 450 people in this situation so far this year”, specified the person in charge of the
entity, who recalled that “thanks to this agreement we have multidisciplinary care teams, with psychologists, social workers and lawyers, who provide due care”. In this sense, he has highlighted that “we have achieved labor reinsertion in 23 cases”.
On the other hand, the local institution has also signed the collaboration agreement with Caritas for the program that helps women in vulnerable situations who are pregnant and without resources. In this regard, Muñoz has highlighted the work carried out in this regard by the association for 12 years in Marbella, “being pioneers in the provision of this initiative and that has always had our support”. This year the amount that the City Council allocates rises to 28,000 euros, which “directly finances the activity that takes place in the Virgen Madre Shelter, as well as the supplies and the social integration work that is carried out”, has detailed, for his part, the entity’s representative in Malaga, Francisco José Sánchez.
