The Marbella Town Hall has informed this Friday of the start of works for the creation of 1.4 kilometers of river promenade in the Benabolá stream, with an investment of more than 5.5 million euros.
The intervention, which will have an execution period of 11 months and a surface area of 45,000 square meters, will allow the hydraulic and environmental reorganization of the area.
The project, of which it has been Hidralia awardee, It contemplates the solution to the different deficiencies that the channel presents, where thick vegetation and numerous objects of all kinds that have been dragged by the current extend.
In addition, there is significant pressure from the buildings erected on its right bank and a flood risk of built-up areas closest to the creek. In this sense, an adequate sewage network will be created and the existing sewerage network in the section between Avenida del Prado and the A7 will be channeled, renewed and improved.
Among other measures, a new fecal collector outside of the new creek easement area; A river path will be executed to the east of the stream, which will be completed with lighting, supply, irrigation and urban furniture installations.
In addition, it will create a channeling passage structure in laminated wood, designed for pedestrian use with the possibility of an occasional passage of maintenance vehicles in the southern area of operation, giving continuity to the new path through Belmonte street, and the new channel will be conditioned and linked with the A7 motorway junction in Marbella.
