Together against Covid-19. The mayor, Angeles Muñoz, has committed today to “join forces to come out stronger after the pandemic” during the presentation in the city of the platform ‘Spain, destination of excellence’, promoted by the Spanish Luxury Association and which brings together 14 institutions, including the City Council from Marbella, with the aim of promoting the tourism industry linked to the ‘premium’ segment. “At this time, synergies are absolutely essential,” said the first mayor, who thanked the involvement of both the public and private sectors in an initiative linked to exclusivity and quality, “which are the hallmark and brand of Marbella ”.

The councilor stressed the importance of “going hand in hand at such a difficult time”, since “being specific destinations, each one with our identity, within this platform we can provide added value to contribute to that excellence ”. Likewise, he has valued that “the data for this summer that has just ended have been much better than expected, with very good occupancy and spending per visitor, and we continue to have magnificent prospects for the coming months”, a point in which it has had an impact on that “this demonstrates the idea that tourism not only wanted to return but also wants to do so with new sensations and new incentives.”

During his speech at the event, where the image, the corporate video and the platform website, the councilor has emphasized that Marbella “is the best place to live, visit and invest” because “we have and can offer not only an unbeatable climate, but an exceptional gastronomy, the best services and quality of life.” Likewise, he alluded to the fact that “we are a benchmark in sun and beach, cultural, health, congress, sports, residential tourism and we are focusing as a pole of teleworking and the establishment of digital companies.”

Along with the mayor, the honorary president and founder of the Spanish Luxury Association, Beatriz de Orleans; the executive president of the group, Cristina Martín; the general director of Turespaña, Miguel Sanz, and the undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Pablo Garde. “It has been a success to choose Marbella because it is an international and world benchmark in the ‘premium’ segment”, Sanz pointed out, while Garde defended that “we have to consolidate Spain as a tourist leader in excellence and this initiative contributes to promoting this quality appeal within the framework of an increasingly diversified offer ”.

For two days, the Spanish Luxury Association has brought together a selection of the most outstanding in Marbella incoming agencies specialized in luxury and representatives of the different Spanish regions in the ‘premium segment‘, invited by the Marbella City Council, Costa del Sol Tourism and Andalusia Tourism. In addition to reflecting on the product and the strategies to position Spain among the main international destinations, it has been revealed that the platform’s first international action is scheduled in the United Kingdom next February.
