The City Council has transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Traffic the offer for the transfer of a plot in the area of La Torrecilla, for the construction of the new detachment of the Civil Guard in Marbella. The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, held a meeting today in the Town Hall with the provincial head of Traffic in Malaga, Aída Vilaret, in which the characteristics of the proposal were addressed, which includes a plot of land with a total surface area of 1,830 square meters and a permitted buildable area of 3,660 square meters.

The councilor explained that the land offered, which from the provincial headquarters will be transferred to the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) for ratification, will be located on the plot of almost 39,000 square meters of surface in the northern part of the city where it will coexist with other large, newly-built public facilities such as the Palace of Justice and the National Police Station. “It will be an ideal location, due to its characteristics and its proximity to the highway, which will allow the Civil Guard to continue growing in our municipality,” said the first mayor after the meeting with Vilaret, in which the captain also participated. Miguel Ángel Benítez, head of the Traffic subsector in Malaga, and Lieutenant Carlos Álvarez, head of the Marbella detachment.

Muñoz recalled that the City Council has already agreed and resolved with the Ministry of Development of the Junta de Andalucía the access to the new Torrecilla facilities and stressed that, in the case of the new Civil Guard of Traffic detachment, it will mean “ an undoubted improvement of its facilities, since its buildable area allows the surface area of its current premises to be multiplied by ten, as well as making them more accessible and functional, which will allow them to provide a better service and will be beneficial for Marbella ”.
