The Marbella City Council has promoted a comprehensive signage plan throughout the city that aims to constantly improve mobility and road safety, an initiative that will have a municipal investment of 1.3 million eurosas announced this Thursday by the mayor, Ángeles Muñoz.
This has been highlighted by the councilor in a visit she has made to the work that is being carried out in the district of Nueva Andaluciawhere she has been accompanied by the Councilor for Transport, Enrique Rodríguez, highlighting that the project is “very necessary due to the extension of the municipal area and the number of elements it contemplates, about 18,000 vertical and more than 600 kilometers horizontally”.
“Our commitment to road safety is clear and this contract, which is being executed by API Mobilitya specialized company with great experience in the sector in Spain, is an example of this”, stated the councilor, who also underlined “the work of the delegation so that the signage is in perfect condition and permanently”.
The first mayor has indicated that the investment in two years will be 1.3 million euros and that the initiative may be extended three years more, until 2025, specifying that “right now we have two teams constantly working on the replacement and fine-tuning of these elements, although at times they may increase in number.”
Muñoz has detailed that the work began at the end of last year and has already been carried out repainting actions on the N-340, the ring road and neighborhoods such as Plaza de Toros, Puya, Molino de Viento and Bello Horizonte in Marbella; in Puerto Banús and the avenues of Girasoles and Miguel de Cervantes, in New Andalusia; on Las Cumbres avenue and in the access to the Los Molineros urbanization in Las Chapas; and in Nueva Alcántara, the ring road, Avenida de la Constitución and the area of the new San Pedro health center.
For his part, Rodríguez has advanced that to date, since the beginning of the contract, they have already executed performances worth 400,000 eurosnoting “the crash plan carried out in those areas that most demanded it”.
Likewise, he has indicated that “the actions range from vertical and horizontal signaling works to temporary elements, calm, road infrastructure repair or projects to improve both pedestrian and vehicular mobility”.
Regarding the material means, the mayor has detailed that “the teams have two one hundred percent electric vanstwo other cargo trucks, a boom truck, a spray team with an assistant vehicle and painting and milling machines”.
In addition, he pointed out that the plan “is completed with some improvements introduced in the contract like installing two charging points for electric vehiclescarrying out technical improvement projects in environments that pay special attention to mobility and road safety, with projects of up to 600,000 euros per year and a review plan for all existing signaling gantries”.
