The Marbella Town Hall wanted to pay tribute to the Marbella Battalion Musical Group putting his name on it roundabout of the bullring, where the symbolic figure of a treble clef has also been installed.

The opening ceremony took place this Sunday, with the presence of councilor José Eduardo Díaz, as a representative of the institution, who explained that with this initiative they want to “recognize the trajectory of an entity closely linked to our city and to which we all have a special affection for him because it is always present in religious, social or cultural events and maintains a close relationship with groups, brotherhoods and fraternities”.

He stressed that “this emblematic corner of the city is from now on linked to the history of the group, which is also the history of our town”. The mayor has highlighted the international projection of the entity, since it has been participating for five years in the famous carnivals of Acirale, in Sicily, and in competitions held in different countries, where it has won first group and solo prizes.

In addition, he pointed out that “this roundabout houses a singular specimen of carob tree which is a metaphor for the greatness, strength and splendid future of our beloved group”.

For his part, the president of the group, José Sánchezthanked the Consistory for its support and had words of remembrance for Francisco Lorenzo Cuevas, who founded the entity in 1969, and for Antonio Gil Guerrero, who continued his legacy.
