The Marbella Town Hall has shown this Monday its rejection of a requirement, sent by the Demarcation of Coasts on May 30, to remove a breakwater created urgently in order to prevent the collapse of the promenade at the height of Casablanca beach, as reported on Monday by the acting mayor, Ángeles Muñoz.
This has been declared by the councilor after the Local Government Board, who has described the communication, two days after the municipal elections, “of a more disloyalty of the Executive of Pedro Sánchez with Marbella ” and has announced “technical and legal measures to avoid this intervention in the middle of the city’s high season.”
Muñoz recalled that the breakwater was the result of emergency works in the spring of 2022 after storms that the city suffered. For this action, according to the councilor, “Costas opened a disciplinary file for 4,000 euros with the argument that the permit had not been requested, an amount that was finally reduced to around 1,300 euros and that was paid by the company that carried out the intervention”, he explained.
“Now, more than a year later and just two days after the municipal elections, in the middle of the high season, we have received a request that voluntarily, within 30 days, Let’s remove the breakwater or they will and they will pass us the bill ”, lamented the first mayor.
In this sense, who has announced that the City Council is going to request a technical report from Obras to transfer it to Costas, “but at no time are we going to remove this item that prevents the promenade from collapsing with the consequent danger to the security of the area”, he asserted.
For all these reasons, he has assured that it is “a authentic disloyalty and recklessness of the Government of Sánchezwhich always reflects a constant rejection of Marbella instead of defending the interests of the city and showing that it cares about the municipality, with clear actions such as coastal stabilization projects”.
For their part, from the Demarcation of Coasts they have indicated that “it is a disciplinary procedure with the obligation to restore last year, a resolution that is firm and that the Marbella Town Hall has not appealed at any time”.
