The city of Marbella returns to normal this year with a return to tradition and customs and will celebrate after two years of pandemic its San Bernabé Fair and Festivalswhich will take place from June 7 to 12 with the program of concerts and tributes, as announced on Monday by the mayor, Ángeles Muñoz.
This was highlighted by the councilor in the act of presentation of the program of the Fairwhere she has been accompanied by the person in charge of Fiestas, Yolanda Marín, and the older brother of the Brotherhood Los Romero de San Bernabé, José Manuel Orozco, and which has taken place in the Parque de la Alameda.
Muñoz has highlighted that the town “will live a great week again” to celebrate the local holiday, that will start in advance on June 5 with the traditional pilgrimage of the Patron Saint and that Los del Río will proclaimas it has progressed.
The Day Fair will take place in its traditional locations such as Parque de la Alameda and Avenida del Mar, while the Feria de Noche will be located on a plot of “almost 40,000 meters” located in the area of Arroyo Segundo ceded by the “Ramos-Marín” family. Meanwhile, the booth for the elderly will be located as in previous editions in the municipal Market Square.
During her speech, the mayor stressed that this year the Fair and Festival of San Bernabé will serve to recognize numerous neighbors, for which the Arch of Night will be dedicated to Francisco Ferrer Casaus ‘Ferrer de Los Compadres’, which will be inaugurated on June 7 at 8:30 p.m. in the new Fairground, being a day in which a tribute will be paid in the opening session of the fireworks to Guillermo González Alonso, ‘El Cohetero’, at El Faro beach. In addition, the name of Paquita Jesús will be awarded to the dance academy contest “for her brilliant career”, the first mayor remarked.
While the day fair will be inaugurated on the 8th, at 1:00 p.m., in the Arch located in the Parque de la Alameda, which this year will be dedicated to ‘Tank, Toñi and his ballet’ and the consequent opening of the bars. During this day, the opening of the attractions of the Night Fair will also take place at 7:00 p.m.
Thursday June 9 will be the appointment for children with the celebration of the Children’s Day, with which the attractions of the Night Venue will be offered at popular prices starting at 7:00 p.m., while since Friday the City Council has organized a musical performance program which will start at 11:00 p.m. with concerts by the bands ‘Don’t step on me, I’m wearing flip-flops’ and ‘Mojinos Escozios’ in the old municipal booth.
On Saturday, June 11, the solemn mass will be celebrated in the Parish of Our Lady of the Incarnation at 11:00 a.m. and the procession in honor of the Patron Saint San Bernabé, which will be accompanied by the Our Lady of the Incarnation Choir and the Marbella Music Band. This day will also take place the performances of Ana Guerra and Cepedawhile the artists Juanlu Montoya and Antoñito Molina will take the stage on the 12th starting at 11:00 p.m.
The Fair has also planned a special programming for the elderly of the municipality, in the Caseta Mi Hogar, which will be relocated in the Central Market square, and another for children with the outstanding event ‘Cool off in San Bernabé’which will be held on June 12 on Pablo Ráez Boulevard, and which will feature children’s entertainment shows and bouncy castles with water, among other attractions.
It will also be an inclusive party through the retransmission of the proclamation in sign language and two days, Wednesday and Friday between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., no noise for people with extreme noise sensitivity.
On Sunday, June 12, it will return to recreate the historic entrance of King Ferdinand the Catholic in Marbella on June 11, 1485, a day that will start at 11:00 am from Salinas Street and will end in the Plaza de la Iglesia Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación for the delivery of capitulations to a member of the Municipal Corporation.
