The Marbella Town Hall is undertaking the works of expansion of the Francisco Norte sports center with 1,300 square meters of new equipment and will complete the perimeter closure of the facilities to regulate their use and guarantee the rest of the neighbors, as announced on Wednesday by the Councilor for Works, Diego López.
This was highlighted by the mayor in a visit he made to the area together with the mayor of Sports, Manuel Cardeña, where he pointed out that the objective is “to continue providing citizens with more infrastructure that improve the quality of life and allow outdoor activitiesbooming after the pandemic.
López has indicated that the performance, which has a lead time of two monthsis completed with the execution of a ramp so that the students of the Río Verde Institute have direct access to these facilities.
Regarding the new sports area, he recalled that the enclosure had an unused area located to the northwhere they are going to enable a multisport track for TRX and calisthenicsa functional training area and two teqball tables, a discipline similar to table tennis that is practiced with soccer balls.
At this point, Cardeña has advanced that the approach is “Move sports activities to these facilities municipal meetings that take place in other areas such as the maintenance gymnastics for the elderly, the body pump and the ‘streching’”. In addition, he has stressed that in this mandate various improvements have already been made in the Francisco Norte sports center such as the start-up of the hockey rinks and the change in the lighting of the paddle tennis courts.
With this action, as López has underlined, a response is also given to a local demand, “because until now a misuse by a minority part of the citizenry at night.” Together with the installation of the new sports facilities, the entire area will be equipped with a similar enclosure “so that from the Sports delegation an access control to these points is made and to avoid inappropriate activities and inconvenience to the neighbors”.
Finally, another of the important reforms will be the construction of a ramp which will allow to resume direct access from the Río Verde institute “which had been lost after the construction of the car park”, added the mayor.
