The government team of Marbella approved this Friday in a plenary session of extraordinary character that will allocate 2 million euros from court cases for corruption with final judgment to urban regeneration plans in the municipal term. The objective is to improve infrastructures and reactivate the economy of SMEs. The opposition, PSOE, Opción Sampedreña and Cs, have abstained from voting.
The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, said this Friday that the commitment of the local Executive is to do “justice with Marbella facing the systematic looting to which the city was subjected for years and giving back to the neighbors what belongs to them ”.
“From minute one, in 2007, this government team has always defended that everything that had left the city during that dark stage had to come back here“Said the councilor, while highlighting that the City Council has obtained 42 final favorable sentences with convictions of more than 334 million and that 37.7 million euros have been entered into the municipal coffers” aimed at improving the quality of life of our citizens ”.
“With these funds they are promoting projects that are transforming the municipality, such as the parking plan, the new headquarters of the Official School of Languages, the Fernando Alcalá municipal library or the first public residence for the elderly ”, he added.
For his part, Socialist spokesman José Bernal demanded the “urgent and immediate” repair of the wall of the Federico García Lorca School, since “years later it continues in the same situation and deteriorating day after day”.
“Children and the Santa Marta neighborhood also need to have decent facilities. A total of two million euros could be allocated to the construction of this wall ”, indicated the mayor, who has ensured that the City Council is assuming works of the Junta de Andalucía that remain investments in the city.
On the other hand, in the plenary session it was agreed to authorize the expenses related to multi-year games for the future municipal stadium, specifically one million euros for the ideas competition and the drafting of the project; and two million euros for the future Ricardo Soriano health center, which will be located in the old Town Planning offices.
“These are two very important actions, of social interest and urgently claimed by citizens. It is necessary to carry out the procedure so that there is no type of negative effect on the budget execution and on the works ”, said the Works delegate, Diego López.
Lastly, progress was made in modifying the General Urban Planning Plan that will provide San Pedro Alcántara and Nueva Andalucía from an electrical substation and a warehouse for operational services for the water supply network.
