The Marbella Fire Brigade will have a modernization of the management, control, command and communications room in a further step towards innovation and digitization in terms of security, as was already done at the time in the case of the Local Police. This has been announced by the councilor of the Marbella City Council area, José Eduardo Díaz, who has indicated that in the coming weeks this action will be put out to tender by an amount greater than 100,000 euros. In the same way, he explained that the free application SOS Emergencies, which allows real-time geolocation of calls made requesting help, currently has more than 10,000 downloads. “Our intention is for it to increase,” he stated, while highlighting that “it is a very useful application”: “It is developed by our firefighters, who have the technology that allows them to be faster and more efficient at the time to arrive at an intervention ”. A technology that is the third “leg” of the modernization plan, along with investments and new personnel after the incorporation of a fortnight of personnel a few months ago.
The objective, according to the City Council, is unify the technological system and the management of the fire stations themselves and the 080 telephone, as well as having a new control and command room that meets the same modernity requirements of the Local Police through screens that not only allow viewing the two parks of Marbella and San Pedro, but also the management of any emergency of digital way. “In addition, integrating the public address systems, the stations, the incoming telephone calls and the connection with 112, in a central way and with a single command post,” added the councilor.

The head of the Fire Department, Medardo Tudela, has pointed out the importance of intervening due to its “peculiarity” and “geographic dispersion” of the urbanizations: “The first thing we must know is what is happening and where.” He also thanked the support received for the renewal of the command center, “since it is necessary to achieve this integration, especially for complex interventions.”
For his part, Jesús Gasset, in charge of the technological area of Firefighters, has detailed the operation of a device that was born from the need to reach the sites given the number of areas and even mountain roads in the area of action, which includes other municipalities such as Ojén and Benahavís.
