The plenary session of the City Council Mijas has approved this Friday a budget modification worth 78,109,647.26 euros which will be used to promote new projects and infrastructures, the increase in social aid for the most vulnerable families residing in the town and the start-up of cultural and leisure projects.
The mayor, Josele González, has assessed that “this budget modification is very important for Mijas, since each euro included in it is destined to improve our municipality, with games coming to improve the quality of life of Mijeños and Mijeñas, and it comes precisely because of the work capacity of this local government team”.
During his speech, the councilor stressed that this modification “is a tool that allows administrations like ours take on new projects, activities and grants who come to invigorate a municipality as extensive as Mijas, more so in a context as complex as the current one After two years of pandemic and in the face of the current crisis”.
The first mayor has valued that despite this, “we continue to advance in the government commitments acquired with the mijeños and the mijeñas as they are the pool olimpica of La Cala, the Great Park, the extension of the Senda, the bridges that connect the Camino de Coín with Cerros del Águila and Hipódromo, the parking of Los Santos, as well as the start-up of different activities and celebrations for the enjoyment of residents and visitors, without neglecting the improvement of cleanliness, green areas and parks or nursery schools, among others”.
In this sense, the Councilor for the Treasury, Roy Pérez, has underlined that “it is a modification that brings much-needed investment for the town and that they will come to improve the quality of life of the mijeños and the mijeñas, since they will allow implement new infrastructure and increase the provision of services intended for citizens.
As detailed, the text “has two very marked aspects, on the one hand, the improvement and provision of new infrastructuresand on the other, the increased investment in social and cultural mattersso that the most needy families can count on the support of their closest Administration, such as rental, emergency or social aid, from which more than 3,000 families have already benefited in 2021 alone”.
The budget modification includes investment for the execution and start-up of projects such as the execution of the new section of the Coastal Path from La Cala to Fuengirola; the project of splitting of Camino Viejo de Coin section towards the roundabout of Victims of Terrorism-Camino Campanales; the provision of equipment in Cortijo Colorado; various water collector projects or the Miguel Hernández road connection with Highway A-7053; among others.
The modification will largely go to the improvement of city infrastructureas pointed out by the mayor of the area José Carlos Martín, who pointed out that “it allows us to cover lines of work as important as the sanitation problems of Mijas Pueblo with the east and west collectors, as well as Mijas la Nueva and la Alquería”.
“We cannot forget such important connections for the mobility of the municipality such as the splitting of the Camino de Coin and the A387”said Martín, who added that “after six years of hard work, the Great Park of the Costa del Sol you can already see its closest horizon with a first budget item of 4.5 million euros”.
In addition, they include the creation of the municipal mobility plan for the improvement of urban mobility, the execution and promotion of new cultural projects, the aid for dependency, economic family, emergency and rent; the improvement of public lighting, the cleaning service, urban transport scholarships and aid for summer schools, among others.
