The Plenary of the Mijas Town Hall has given this Tuesday the green light to the definitive bases of the Cometha Plan, a package of helps 10.3 million euros worth of 10.3 million euros to the retail trade, tourism companies, hotels and the self-employed, which will reinforce the local economy and the activation of employment in the municipality.
“Today [este martes] we go one step further to help economic reactivation of our city and support the effort that our family and self-employed companies have been making in recent months and we do so in a particularly complex context in which this City Council once again positions itself as a management benchmark in the face of the economic, social and labor crisis of the Covid-19 ”, he stressed.
The mayor, Josele González, valued this commitment to the economic reactivation of Mijas and has emphasized how this “historic aid package will be added to the one executed in 2020 through the OREA Plan, which will mean that in just two years the administration local will make available to its commercial and tourist fabric more than 23 million euros in aid from which thousands of mijeños will benefit ”.
The Cometha plan I’ts divided into two help lines: Cometha Employment with grants worth 8.5 million euros and Cometha Tourism, worth 1.8 million for tourism companies. The first line will have grants of up to 6,000 euros depending on the number of workers; while the second line, Tourism, will have grants of up to 50,000 euros depending on the type of tourist accommodation and up to 75,000 euros in the golf course according to the number of holes.
On this occasion, in addition to the retail trade, there will be support for accommodation and golf courses to help the economic recovery of this tourism sector, said Martín, who has valued the management of the Consistory.
“The responsible management that we have carried out in this City Council in the last six years has allowed us to have a surplus of more than 100 million euros which has made it possible to implement this and other measures to help citizens in the worst economic and social situation in recent history. We will continue working and managing responsibly to continue supporting our neighbors ”, he added.
The definitive foundations of the Cometha Plan have come forward with the votes in favor of PSOE and Cs and the abstention of the rest of the groups. Among the main requirements included in these grants, which will be competitive in nature, it is found that the turnover of companies and freelancers corresponding to the first semester of 2021 has decreased by at least 30 percent compared to that of the first semester of 2019.
